Terms of Service
Last updated: August 9, 2026
Use of the service
Mailrecord is a diagnostic tool that performs live DNS lookups for domains you specify. You may use it for any lawful purpose. You do not need an account or registration. There are no rate limits enforced at this time, but the operator reserves the right to impose reasonable limits to maintain service availability.
No guarantee of accuracy
DNS records change. DNS resolvers may return cached or stale data. Network conditions may cause lookups to fail or return incomplete results. Mailrecord presents what it receives from the DNS resolver at the time of the lookup — it does not verify, validate, or guarantee the correctness of any DNS record. Do not rely solely on this tool for security or compliance decisions.
No guarantee of availability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." The operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice. There is no service-level agreement.
Billing
Mailrecord does not take payments today. The Free plan costs $0, requires no payment method and no account. The Plus plan is still in development and is not yet available for purchase; no subscription, charge, billing period, or refund policy exists for it yet. The checkout shown on the pricing page is a visual demo only — no payment information is collected and no data leaves your browser.
The following terms describe how billing will work once paid access is offered. They are stated now so there is no ambiguity about the intended arrangement:
- What you buy. A Plus subscription grants access to the Plus features listed on the pricing page at the time you subscribe.
- Price. The Plus plan price will be published on the pricing page before the plan is offered for sale. Nothing is charged until that price is shown to you.
- Billing period. Plus will be billed as a recurring subscription, in advance, on a monthly cycle, until you cancel.
- Failed payments. If a charge fails, we will retry it automatically for a short period. If payment still cannot be collected, access to paid features may be paused until the charge succeeds.
- Refund policy. A refund policy will be published alongside the Plus price before the plan is offered for sale, and will be stated in these terms and on the pricing page.
Prohibited uses
You may not use Mailrecord to:
- Scan domains without authorization (though the tool checks only one domain at a time per its design).
- Submit domains in an automated fashion at a volume that degrades service for others.
- Attempt to probe the underlying infrastructure or DNS resolver.
- Use the service in violation of applicable law.
Intellectual property
The Mailrecord name, logo (magnifying-glass mark and wordmark), and site design are the operator's intellectual property. You may not reproduce, modify, or redistribute them without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to decisions made based on DNS lookup results.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The "Last updated" date indicates the most recent revision.
Contact
The operator has not yet designated a contact address or legal representative. This section will be updated when that information is available.
Governing law
No governing law or jurisdiction is specified until a legal entity is registered and these terms are formally adopted.
